Two actresses are required for readings of When I’m 64 by Comox playwright, J.S. Hill.
This poignant and amusing play involves six Comox Valley women who face challenging life transitions with resilient strength and inner well-springs of hope
The readings are at Shakespeare by the Sea in a 70-seat tent overlooking the ocean at Clover Point in Victoria. The dates will be three nights, either July 21-23, or July 28-30, 2014.
Actresses must be available at least one of the weeks, preferably both. Actors will pay for their accommodation in Victoria. Car-pooling can be arranged. The production team will share the Box Office receipts. Tickets are $10
Two roles are up for audition: Sonja, age 64, a newcomer to Comox Valley, was happily married until she was widowed.
She tries internet dating to find a companion and dance partner. Alexandra is also 64 but looks younger. Sophisticated, successful, and well-to-do, Alexandra’s perfect world is in transition as family circumstances cause her to re-evaluate her future.
When I’m 64 had a well-received public debut last August at Shakespeare by the Sea. Audience members subsequently arranged readings at another theatre last February which both sold out.
Interested actresses can email Terry Penney at ttp9@shaw.ca to receive a copy of the play
To arrange an audition, email Steve Hill at playtrain@gmail.com and he will contact you after May 1.
