Adult Concert Band performing for local hospice society

Adult Concert Band performing at 100 Mile House benefit

The Adult Concert Band, under the direction of Jack Fellner and with guest appearance by 100 Mile House vocalist Ingrid Mapson, will be performing a concert at the Martin Exeter Hall on June 10 at 2 p.m.

With the first half of the show consisting of standard concert band pieces, the audience will be treated to big band music from the ’30s and ’40s during the second half.

After taking a hiatus, the Adult Concert Band was reformed six years ago when Fellner moved to 100 Mile.

The 20-member band includes residents from all around the Cariboo, including two members from Williams Lake. It has played at many venues, including the fall fair, Christmas concerts at Carefree Manor and Fischer Place, and more recently, at the Festival of the Arts, Fellner explains.

“We need more people. It is really a great group and we have a lot of fun [playing music].

“The group started so people who like to play could get out and play and have fun doing it.”

Admission to the June 10 concert will be by cash donation to the 100 Mile District Hospice Palliative Care Society.

People can get more information on the concert and about joining the band by calling Fellner at 250-395-2088.
