It’s your last chance to go to the Clova – don’t miss it.

There are now just a few days left before the Clova Cinema shuts off the movie projector forever and passes into celluloid history.

Fortunately, patrons have options if they want to say goodbye in person to operator Craig Burghart, his close-knit staff of nine, and possibly even his mom, Dora, the Clova’s official greeter (semi-retired), and her pet dog, Cupcake.

The family-run single screen, home to one of the Lower Mainland’s last 35mm film projection systems, is continuing to show two movies each evening to July 31: Tammy (7 p.m.) and Jersey Boys (8:55 p.m.).

But that’s not all. Burghardt promised patrons the Clova will go out with a bang, and, true to form, the “Clovamily” has a busy finale planned.

On Friday, Aug. 1, the Clova kicks off its End of an Era Final Weekend extravaganza with two screenings of the ultimate cult movie – The Rocky Horror Picture Show, running at 9:30 p.m. (Note: the 12:30 a.m. showing has been cancelled). Costumes and props encouraged (prop bags will be available for sale at the door). Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

The Clova presents the 2nd Annual Amazing Race Cloverdale on Aug. 2. The challenge promises to be bigger and better than last year’s inaugural event. This time, however, teams will need a car to compete. The race works a little like a scavenger hunt, with teams receiving a list of check-in locations where they’ll be asked to answer a trivia question before getting the go-ahead to proceed to their next destination.

Register at 12 p.m. It’s $10 for adults, $5 for kids under 12 to take part.

The Clova says adieu after 67 years with a live performance by ABRA Cadabra, a tribute to the music of ABBA, taking the stage at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 2. Tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for kids 12 and under.

Sunday, Aug. 3 is The Great Clova Auction. Bid on a part of Cloverdale history starting at 1:30 p.m. at the Clova, 5732 176 Street, Surrey. Tickets for all events are on sale now at the box office, any time it’s open.
