An artistic collaboration at Infinitea

On March 25, music and painting were combined to produce an abundance of sensorial stimulation at Infinitea T-Bar & Boutique.

The evening featured local DJ Kyle Ingy a.k.a Mr Wub spinning tracks from his soon to be released album, as patrons collaborated on several large canvases.

Ingy began his career as a singer-songwriter who slowly got pulled into the world of psychedelic bass music. His sound incorporates eclectic samplings such as indigenous chants and traditional Mongolian music with driving bass lines to produce a unique experience.

He’s performed at bars and nightclubs across B.C. but took the winter off to write an album in Fernie.

Accompanying Ingy were local visual artists Erica Teulon and Libby Vanderschuit who were overseeing the paintings.

“I’m just here to help guide,” said Teulon.

Infinitea’s owner Stephanie Fleming said that anyone was allowed to add a bit of paint to the canvases in the collaborative effort to create art and that Teulon and Vanderschuit were present to give guidance and support.

“We’ve got them guiding because a blank canvas is very daunting,” she said.

Stencils were made available for those with a little less artistic inclination.

Fleming noted that the finished paintings would be displayed on Infinitea’s patio this summer.
