The Oceanside Concert Band’s annual Spring Concert is this Sunday.
The 35-member band will be performing under the direction of Dr. Paul Rathke with soloist drummer Wayne Finucan.
Finucan has played on hundreds of TV shows over the years and has been a featured jazz drummer on the Island.
Rathke has lived in Parksville for the past eight years. He holds a degree from the Eastman School of Music and he was a member of the United States Army Field Band of Washington, D.C.
Highlights from the show will include Salute to Jimmy Webb, Highlights from Fiddler On The Roof and Vaughn William’s Folk Song Suite.
The event is sponsored by the Parksville and District Music Association with proceeds from the concert used locally to support music programs in the area.
The show is at Knox United Church (345 Pym St., Parksville) on April 10 at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are available at the door: $15 for adults, $5 for students and accompanied children under 12 will be admitted for free.
