Vancouver Island’s largest outdoor art event returns Saturday, July 16 when the 29th annual TD Art Gallery Paint-In fills Moss Street with local art and artists.
New this year are seven imagination stations along the route where the public can get creative and try different activities. The event is also striving to have minimal impact on the environment, and organizers encourage attendees to bring water bottles to fill at the CRD water cart at the gallery and to use the recycling stations along the route.
The day kicks off at 10 a.m. with admission-by-donation at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, then at 11 a.m. more than 165 local artists bring their studios to Moss Street. The family garden opens at 11 a.m. with an array of food, beverages and live music until 9 p.m. at the gallery, at 1040 Moss St.
The free event allows a variety of artists to be seen, including painters, sculptors, carvers, potters, printmakers, performers and others. Coming from across Vancouver Island and British Columbia, they’ll line Victoria’s Moss Street between Fort Street and Dallas Road until 4 p.m.
Booths throughout the event will include rest stations, water refill and doggy bowls. For the younger crowd, there is even a bouncy castle. Enjoy live music by Slim Sandy and Hillbilly Boppers in the afternoon and Tight Hair Disco in the evening.
Moss Street will be closed to traffic from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with no parking on the street during the event.
