The Maple Ridge Historical Society is looking for musical groups to perform at the 2017 Music on the Wharf Concert Series.

“We never really look for anything specific. It’s usually a good cross section of styles. We try to have a different sound each night,” said organizer Allison White, curator at the museum.

One thing to consider is that acoustic sound doesn’t travel well at the venue unless the musicians have their own sound system.

“It’s just where it is based on the location. It’s outside and you have to compete with the train,” said White.

There are only four spots available. Last year, White received more than 50 applications.

“We’ve been seeing everything from folk to rock to blues to jazz,” White said.

“There is no specific sound we are looking for. Everything goes that can be played in the venue,” she added.

Applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Mar. 12 at the Maple Ridge Museum, 22520 – 116th Ave.

Submission forms are on the website and must include three audio files, which can be delivered via mail or email.

The concert series runs July 10, 24 and Aug. 14 and 28.
