Art curator to showcase new art exhibit in Kelowna

Order of Canada recipient Ian Thom will be the guest speaker July 7, 1:30 p.m., at Kelowna Art Gallery.

The senior curator, historical, at the Vancouver Art Gallery will be the guest speaker at the Kelowna Art Gallery on July 7, 1:30 p.m.

Ian Thom will be here to talk about Bearing Witness, a exhibition he organized that is being circulated to various art galleries.

Thom is an engaging speaker and he will share fascinating stories about his career, and his work with the Vancouver Art Gallery.

Prior to joining VAG in 1988, Thom held senior curatorial positions at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection and the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria.  Thom has organized more than 100 exhibitions on Canadian and international art and has published extensively on Canadian art, including monographs of David Milne, Emily Carr, Robert Davidson, Takao Tanabe, Gordon Smith, Arthur Lismer, and Maxwell Bates among others.

Widely recognized as an authority on the work of Emily Carr, Thom is a member of the Order of Canada.
