Sarah Hagen at the First Mennonite Church

The fifth performance in the arts council’s 2016/17 season takes place on Feb. 15 at the First Mennonite Church in Burns Lake. Toronto-based classical pianist Sarah Hagen is steadily rising on the Canadian music scene. Her expressive technique, musicianship and engaging personality are best appreciated in an intimate concert setting. Sarah will present a magnificent set of 13 Rachmaninoff Preludes that she has toured across Canada to great acclaim. The second part of the evening will be quite different, the presentation of an innovative performance project based on the story of Babar the Elephant. This presentation will feature children’s artwork created by students from Decker Lake Elementary School. A special guest will narrate the Babar story, to Sarah’s piano performance of music by Poulenc. Sarah is a friend of the Lakes District Festival of the Performing Arts, having been twice an adjudicator at the festival – and she is very excited to be returning to Burns Lake as a performer. Don’t miss this innovative and eclectic evening of music, story and art. Tickets are now on sale at Process 4 circle arts Gallery, LDFC Printing and Stationery and the Lakes Artisan Centre, and will be available at the First Mennonite Church the evening of the performance.
