Art show highlights contemporary styles

Three local female artists will showcase their work in a new exhibition at the Abbotsford Art Gallery.

Three local female artists will showcase their work in a new exhibition at the Abbotsford Art Gallery.

The Contemporary Art Show opens Nov. 18 from 5-9 p.m. and Nov. 19 from 1-4 p.m. and features Abbotsford artisans Myrtle-Anne Rempel, Hong Zhu and Betty Sager.

As part of the display, Rempel’s abstract paintings that incorporate mixed mediums such as paint, fabric and paper.

Zhu’s painted pieces are vibrant in colour and include contemporary styles from the West and East.

A sculptor, Sager’s work reflects themes of liberation and freedom, through the manipulation of stone such as B.C. serpentine, Brazilian soapstone, alabaster and wonderstone.

The artists will be at the event to discuss their artwork with attendees.

The show runs until Dec. 10, at 33286 South Fraser Way.
