Artist Robert Bateman Centre to open in Victoria May 25

The Robert Bateman centre, dedicated to the paintings of artist Robert Bateman, will open in Victoria May 25, 2013.

Fans of internationally known artist Robert Bateman will soon have a chance to check out his artwork anytime they are visiting Victoria’s Inner Harbour.

The Robert Bateman Centre will open in the historic CPR Steamship terminal building on Belleville Street on Saturday May 25 displaying a huge variety of the artist’s work. The earliest painting on display will be an image of an elk that he created as a present for his mother when he was 12. The newest painting will be one that he is still applying the finishing touches to in his Salt Spring Island studio. The Centre will have on exhibit more than 160 works by Bateman.

The Centre will be free to visitors for the opening weekend days of May 25 and 26 from noon until 6pm.
