Artist to donate all sales from June exhibit to Parksville’s McMillan Arts Centre

MAC to reduce published prices by 35 per cent for show

The month of June will see a fundraiser exhibit at the McMillan Arts Centre (MAC) in Parksville and will be co-sponsored by professional designer and artist Richard Alm.

Alm will present a show that was originally planned in 2020, entitled Spatialist Nouveau: the rise of structure canvas in the art world, from June 1 until June 27, 2021.

At his request, 100 per cent of all sales from any of his 40 paintings on display will be donated to the MAC in support of its people and programs. The MAC, in return, will forego it’s usual gallery commission, reducing the published price by 35 per cent to encourage public donations.

“What I have experimented with here is my fourth revisit to the spatialist movement of the mid-19th century,” said Alm in a release issued by the executive director of the MAC, Jennifer Bate. “I have continued my search into a new spatial concept that seeks to establish an art form that ties together space, light and perspective in a form that distorts perspective, colour and the very essence of the visual scene presented as the observer moves past the piece.”
