New exhibit at Rollin

Wild! is the Rollin Art Centre’s next art exhibit featuring Jacqueline Windh and her exhibition of photographs.

Join Windh on Saturday, May 12, from 1-3 p.m. in the gallery for a meet and greet.

The exhibit runs from May 11 to June 9. The gallery is located at the corner of Eighth Avenue and Argyle Street, and admission is free.

Musical Magic with Timbre!

Timbre! presents Musical Magic with musical director Patricia Miller on Sunday, May 6 at 2:30 p.m. in the ADSS auditorium.

Tickets are on sale at Rollin, Echo Centre, Salmonberry’s, Somass Drugs and at the door.

Tickets: $15 adults, $12 seniors/students and $6 children.

Meet historian at society AGM

Jan Peterson is a writer of the definitive histories of the Alberni Valley.

Petersen will be guest of honour Wednesday, May 9, at 7 p.m. at the Historical Society’s annual general meeting at the Alberni Valley Museum.

This centennial event will also include a presentation by local physicians John and Diane Wilson concerning their involvement as volunteers delivering medical services to the Pacific Island nation of Vanuatu.

Eighth annual book sale

Mark your calendars. The Rollin Art Centre’s eighth annual book sale is Saturday, May 12, starting at 9 a.m. at Echo Centre.

This is the Community Art Council’s largest fundraiser of the year, so please come and support us.

Choose from an assortment of books such as fiction, novels, biographies and much more.

Plant sale happening

The Mt. Klitsa Garden Club presents their 13th annual plant sale, Saturday May 12th from 10 a.m. to noon at the Rollin Art Centre.

Grab your boxes and bags and join us at the gardens to purchase all your garden annuals, perennials, hanging baskets and more.

2012 is a banner year

The Arrowsmith Rotary Club is sponsoring the banner program. There is a $10 registration fee, to cover the cost of supplies.

Forms can be picked up at the Rollin Art Centre. Deadline is May 18. The event is planned for May 24-27 at the Kinsmen Community Centre.

Watercolour workshop

Texture in watercolour will be presented by well-known FCA signature artist Harold Allanson May 8–10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call Cynthia Bonesky 250-724-1767 for more information.

 

The Rollin Art Centre Gallery is located at the corner of Eighth Avenue and Argyle Street and is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The gallery is wheelchair accessible.
