Dual purpose silent auction

Come out and help support both The Rollin Art Centre and the Outreach Therapy program at Hilton Centre as they have joined forces to host a silent Art Auction, Monday, March 12, from 7–9 p.m. at the Rollin Art Centre.

The auction features a variety of framed prints, African masks, baskets and an original Roy Vickers banner and print from a private collection as well as work from local artists.

Funds raised will ultimately enhance and further children’s programming and outreach therapy in the Alberni Valley.

Gittan shows her attitude

Alberni Valley photographer Gittan Klemetsrud will present the next exhibit at the Rollin Art Centre Gallery from March 14 to April 11.

Klemetsrud’s insightful understanding of our unified connections with nature shows through in her latest exhibit, When Attitude Becomes Form.

Meet Klemetsrud on Saturday, March 17 from 1–3 p.m. at the Rollin Art Centre’s gallery.

Workshop for songwriters

Contemporary singer songwriter Linnea Good presents Singing the Holy, Sharing the Story, a workshop for singers and all who love music, Saturday March 10 at Trinity Church (Fifth Avenue and Angus Street).

Potluck supper at 5 p.m., workshop runs from 6:30–9 p.m.

Tickets are $15 adult, $10 youth or seniors and $40 for a family. Pre-register at 250-724-4921.

Rock and gem show returns

Port Alberni’s annual Rock and Gem show takes place Saturday, March 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, March 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cherry Creek Community Hall.

Admission is $2 per adult and children under 10 are free. Call Dan Mooney at 250-724-2832 for more info.

Historically speaking

The first in the Alberni District Historical Society’s spring speakers series will take place on Wednesday, March 14 at 7 p.m. at the Alberni Valley Museum.

Ken Rutherford will give an update plans for celebrating the city’s Centennial plus retired superintendent Ed Surry will give a presentation on the history of the post office.

There is no admission fee.

Vintage fashion and tea, too

Help celebrate 100 years of fashion, presented by The Vintage Clothing Ladies.

Saturday, April 21 at 1:30 p.m. Doors open at 1 p.m. at Echo Centre. Tickets are $20 per person and are only available on Saturday, March 24 beginning at 10 am at the AV Museum. Or call 250-723-2181.
