Olak hits many senses with art

In My Minds Eye will be the next art exhibit at the Rollin Art Centre, featuring artist Antonia Olak.

This exhibit will excite the senses with Olak’s stylized paintings in mixed media and charcoal. From realism to gestured abstracts of local west coast themes including Cathedral Grove and Port Alberni. Olak’s exhibit started Feb. 15 and runs until March 10.

Artists wanted for Rollin show

Don’t miss this opportunity. The Rollin Art centre is accepting applications to all visual artists to submit an application to exhibit their work in our fine arts gallery during the 2013 calendar year.

Palmer plays Char’s Landing

Join fibre artist Janet Finch at her open house Friday, Feb. 24 from 1–9 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Port Alberni’s open mike for writers of all genres continues at Char’s Landing on Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 7 pm. Join singer/songwriter Danny McMillan and Joan Donaldson-Yarmey, author of seven Backroads Series books. Coffee/tea and goodies are included in the $5 admission fee.

Event in praise of women

Port Alberni International Women’s Day presents In Praise of Women at the ADSS auditorium, Thursday, March 8 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 each and available at the Rollin Art Centre.

Dance with big band music

Port Alberni’s Harbour City Big Band is putting on the Ritz. Don’t miss this evening of swinging to the oldies at their Swing into Spring Dance, Saturday, March 31 from 7:30–11:30 p.m. at the Italian Canadian Hall. Tickets are $15 and are available at the Rollin Art Centre.

Rollin wants your books

The Rollin Art Centre is still accepting gently used books, DVDs, CDs, and puzzles for their annual book sale, May 12. Drop books at the Rollin Art Centre, inside, under the staircase in the wooden box.
