Arts around: last call for book donations

The Rollin Art Centre is still looking for artists for its 2015 season. The last call for submissions is April 30.

Don’t miss the opportunity to have your own Art exhibit at the Rollin Art Centre. We are still accepting applications from visual artists to exhibit their work in our Fine Arts Gallery during the 2015 calendar year.

Application forms are available at the Rollin Art Centre or you can download an application at www.portalberniarts.com.

Tables open for mill market

The McLean Mill Christmas market will be back again in December, and will feature the return of the popular Light-Up.

The Light-Up will take place for two weekends, Dec. 6-7 and Dec. 12-14.

If you are interested in renting a table in the main building or one of the heritage buildings, for one weekend or two, there is still room. Events have been planned along with the train arriving at set times.

Last call for book donations

The last call for all book donations for the Community Arts Council’s annual sale will be Saturday, May 3. Now is your chance to drop off any gently used books to help the arts council. This year’s book sale will be Saturday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Echo Centre.

The Rollin Art Centre gardens are a wonderful backdrop for any special occasion, family photos and perfect for summer weddings.

It’s city art banner time

Children, adults and schools can partake in this great community event. Once again the Arrowsmith Rotary Club will be sponsoring the  banner program. There is a $10 registration fee to cover the cost of supplies. Forms can be picked up at the Rollin Art Centre,  Tuesday – Sat. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Deadline is May 17. The painting event is planned for May 22-25 at the Kinsmen Community Centre.

Timbre! plays Peacemakers

The Peacemakers the title of Timbre! Choir’s final concert of the season to be held Sunday, May 11 at 2:30 p.m. at ADSS Theatre.

Please join Timbre!, director Pat Miller and accompanist Danielle Marcinek in this tribute to peace.

Tickets are on sale at Rollin Art Centre, Echo Centre and Salmonberry’s.  Seniors/Adults – $15 and Students/Children – $5. Get your tickets early to avoid disappointment.

Portal Players present…

Portal Players Dramatic Society presents the next performance at the Capitol Theatre. Tickets for Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean are now on sale at the Rollin Art Centre and box office. This performance will run from May 1–17. Tickets: Adults: $15 and Seniors/Students $13 in advance.

Barkley Choir rocks country

The Barkley Sounds Community Choir presents their annual spring concert, Sunday, April 27 at 2:30 p.m. at ADSS Theatre. Tickets are $10 in advance and available at Rollin Art Centre, Blue Fish gallery and Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce (cash only).
