Bluesman Jim Byrnes returns to Cascades
The legendary blues musician and actor, Jim Byrnes, is back on the stage of Cascades Casino again next week.
The three-time Juno winner and BC Entertainment Hall of Famer has spent 45 years on the “blues highway” with the likes of Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Taj Mahal, and Robert Cray.
In his “smouldering” and “smoky vocals,” he’s amassed a collection of “true blue” hits like 12 Questions, Walk on Boy, Still Stuck on You, Jailbird Love Song, and Four Until Late.
And he’s bringing some of those favourites back to the Summit Theatre stage on Thursday, June 23, for an 8 p.m. show.
Byrnes will once again be accompanied by roots and rock singer and songwriter Babe Gurr.
Tickets for the show are $42.50 and available at 604-530-2211 or www.ticketweb.ca.
Boppin’ away
Speaking of music, the free summer dance series at Douglas Park kicks off again this Friday.
You’ve Gotta Have Friends returns with its annual Boppin’ In the Park, from 6 to 8 p.m. on June 17, with Six Gun Romeo.
The July 15 dance event will feature the musical stylings of The Timewalkers, and Aug. 12 will feature Red Beans and Rice.
