Arts briefs: Library exhibit anticipates the arrival of spring

Barn Dance, Bloom Market among upcoming events for fans of the arts

Celebrate Spring

Murrayville Library celebrates spring with an art show featuring the colours and sights of the warmer season. The library’s art club is exhibiting a variety of paintings in acrylic, oil, and watercolour.  The show runs until March 13.

Artisans Wanted

Fort Langley’s Bloom Market  returns for another season,with a Spring Bloom Market on Mother’s Day weekend, May 9 and 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fort Langley Community Hall.

Organizers are seeking talented artisans, who create unique handmade items. Table and booth options are available as well as an outdoor display option and the opportunity to participate on one or both days. Last year, the market welcomed more than 2,000 visitors.

Barn Dance

Sabir Sisters Music Studio and Harmony Music Society will host its annual barn dance fundraising event on Saturday, March 7 at Southridge Fellowship.

Guests are invited to dance to the music of The Tartan Players & West Coast Fiddlers. Dances are called by Louise Steinway.

There will be a concession on site, with dinner and snack options, as well as games and a silent auction.

Tickets purchased in advance are $15 adult, $10 children and $35 family. At the door, they’re $20, $15 and $45.
