The Lake District Arts Council’s (LDAC) eighth annual general meeting was attended by regular directors, executive members and volunteers.

All current executive members  and directors were re-elected for the coming year.

The Arts Council is in good financial health, and plans are moving ahead for the 2013-14 season, which will be announced at the last performance of the current season on April 14, 2013.

In the president’s report to the annual general meeting, Sandra Barth said, “Thinking about sustainability and, knowing that we are talented and energetic, I invite the board to a year-long process of preparing for how the LDAC can continue to add spark to individuals’ lives and to the community’s quality of life.”

The LDAC encourages all members and interested citizens to participate in the sustainability planning process in the year ahead.

The sixth performance in the Arts Council’s Magnificent Seven season takes place on March 3, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lakes District Secondary School (LDSS)multipurpose room.

Cadence, one of Canada’s celebrated vocal bands, will be playing. Cadence is four men who sing and perform musical and percussion effects with their voices – combining the lyricism of Stan Getz, the harmonies of Count Basie and the devil-may-care attitude of Louis Prima.

Cadence’s three-time Juno-nominated albums have met with critical acclaim and numerous awards and nominations, including best Canadian album, best jazz song, best original composition and best rock/pop album.

Tickets are available at Process 4 circle arts Gallery, or at the door before the performance.
