Arts festival on Alberni’s horizon

In one more week the Rotary Arts District will be the site of a new arts festival.

In one more week the Rotary Arts District will be the site of a new arts festival. The Solstice Arts Festival, from June 17-19, will celebrate a weekend of artists, art exhibits, music, theatrical performances and street entertainment fun for the whole family. This is something new for the community, combining several events for one big weekend of entertainment.

The groups involved are all not-for-profit groups that are hoping this fundraiser will secure their future, and the future of this event for the Alberni Valley.

Featuring “Days with the Arts” at the Rollin Art Centre, joined by Portal Players Dramatic Society, Alberni Art Rave Society and Art Matters Society – F.A.C.E.

Tickets are now available at the Rollin Art Centre, and Char’s Landing. An entire weekend pass is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students ages 13-18, $50 for a family pass (2 adults and 2 students) and children 12 years old and under are free when accompanied with adult pass.

The Rollin Art Centre will be the site of the Days with the Arts aspect of the Solstice Arts festival. If you are an artist /artisan or even a vendor and are interested in renting a table and displaying your work in this beautiful setting, applications are still available.

The Solstice Arts Festival is a three-day event, from June 17-19. Drop by the Rollin Art Centre for more information.

Table rentals are $80 for the entire weekend.

Next exhibit

Art Rave presents “Solstice Inspirations,” the next art exhibit at the Rollin Art Centre, to kick off the new arts festival; Solstice Arts Festival- Alberni Valley.

This exhibit is an invitational art exhibit showcasing many local artists, including Elspeth Watson, Cynthia Bonesky, Brad Piatka, Connie Watts, Ryan Price, Chris Doman, Ann McIvor, Joan Ackerman, Laurie Allen, Nancy Jorgensen, Winter Darby, Kelly Thomas, Dieter Schlackl, Lori Wilson, Todd Robertson, Kelly Carter, Julian Growcott, Jillian Mayne, Robert Gunn, Sandy Bouleau, Elizabeth Yuen and Paul Jorgensen.

The exhibit begins June 17 and will run until June 30.

Terrace teas

The Rollin Art Centre’s Teas on the Terrace will once again be back this summer; however we will only be having four teas instead of our usual eight.

Join us in the garden for another guaranteed wonderful musical line-up. Back again is “Harvest Thyme Fine Foods” serving up her delicious delectables.

Tickets are $20 for each tea or $75 if you purchase for all four teas. Musical lineup; July 14 – Folk Song Circle, July 28 – Old Time Fiddlers, Aug. 11 – Glen Mofford (easy listening vocals and guitar), and to close out the summer, Aug. 25. – Paul Kurucz – The Travelers.
