Noted comic book author leads workshop

A leading Canadian pop surrealism artist and bestselling comic book author Camilla d’Errico is in Langley this weekend to lead a workshop at the Opus art store.

During her two-hour workshop on Sunday, May 29, d’Errico will focus on the techniques used to create a painting in the pop surrealist style using duo oils, plus offering a brief history lesson on the pop surrealism art movement before moving into demonstrating canvas prep, blending, as well as explaining medium mixing techniques and application of paint to canvas.

Her goal is to help “artists see the possibilities in the art world, and to expand their imagination by giving them an opportunity to learn a current style that is trend setting.”

With the legendary Stan Lee, Emma Roberts, Felicia Day, Neil Gaiman and even pop stars Avril Lavigne and Britney Spears among her biggest fans, d’Errico’s “luscious and thought-provoking artwork” has caused a stir during the past decade.

Her signature approach to her pop surrealistic paint style blends “the intrigue and imagination of soulful-eyed girls and their fantastic animal companions and melting rainbows – creating an inviting world of beauty, enchantment and playfulness,” she explained.
