ArtsAlive 2017 is officially ready for votes after a tour led by Oak Bay arts laureate Barbara Adams for residents, the public art committee and local dignitaries June 1.
Some artwork changed sites at the last minute, including What the Nose Knows, which couldn’t be installed in north Oak Bay due to undergrounds services at the site selected. It shifted to Lokier Park and Dream Window moved to Beach Drive at Lansdowne.
Thirteen sculptures are in place along Oak Bay Avenue, in Estevan village, Willows Beach (Esplanade) and Beach Drive at Lansdowne. Search for the map ot oakbay.ca. Voting boxes feature brochures with paper ballots attached as well as a list of QR codes for all the works on the tour. Boxes are in place at Oak Bay Recreation Centre, municipal hall and Estevan Village.

Five painted public pianos are also set to return to the landscape later this month. Painted by local artists Gillian Redwood, Jim McFarland, Tanta Pennington, Jonathan Gleed, and Robert Amos, the instruments are expected at Turkey Head, Loon Bay, Cattle Point, Estevan Village and a surprise location yet to be revealed. Pianos are open for public play during the day and covered overnight.
