Having Hope at Home is a comedy centred around a family dinner party in which one of the characters goes into labour.
Gallery 7’s production will feature three male performers and three female performers.
“This is a comedy that explores the sometimes precarious dynamics that exist between children and their parents with hilarious results,” says Gallery 7 Theatre’s artistic director Ken Hildebrandt. “Though the play hits a bit close to home with its raw honesty, it’s a charming piece filled with, of course, hope. The play also offers actors great roles to sink their teeth in to.”
Directing Having Hope at Home will be Becky MacDormand, who is currently directing Trinity Western University’s production of Crimes of the Heart.
It will run Jan. 24, 25, 30 and 31 and Feb. 1 and 6-8 at MEI Auditorium at 7:30 p.m., with matinees on Jan. 24, Feb. 1 and 8 at 2 p.m. Rehearsals will begin Nov. 21 and will be held Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6 to 10 p.m. Several Saturday rehearsals will also be scheduled.
