“We started in California,” said frontwoman Rosie Burgess. “We moved our way up the left, and we plan to sorta zig-zag our way back down eventually.”

This tour will take about two months, said Burgess, which can take quite a toll on your body.

“It can be quite tiring. Sometimes you wake up and you don’t know where you are. All the hotels look kinda the same.”

The trick, says Burgess, is to try to stay as healthy as possible, eating as best you can and getting out for exercise regularly.

The Rosie Burgess Trio has been in existence for the past four years, yet the nerves still occasionally rear their ugly head.

“Sometimes I still get a bit nervous. It’s when a show is different, like in festivals when we play at 9 a.m., or when we’re part of a big festival with like 3,000 people watching.

“But in general I’ve been able to keep that beast out of my life.”

No matter what, though, once she gets on stage she delivers the same high-energy, engaging performance the band is known for.

“We like to tell stories of our adventures on the road,” said Burgess. “We like to cut loose out there, get out some of that pent-up energy from being on the road all day.”

Burgess, who describes the band’s sound as “folk-roots style,” says that it’s hard to place them in just one genre.

“We’ve got that Australian sound that’s been growing internationally lately,” she said.

The band will be playing their original music, mostly written by Burgess, and plently of stuff from their latest release Leap.

“It should be a really fun night.”

The Rosie Burgess Trio will be at Lorenzo’s on Mabel Lake Road in Enderby on Saturday. The doors open at 6 p.m. for dinner, music starts around 8 p.m. For reservations phone 250-838-6700.
