THE book of collected stories, Ruby Red Shoes: Empowering Stories on Relationships, Intuition and Purpose is meant to encourage women to share their own stories.
The book, edited by Kristine Gravelle-Rystenbil, features the stories of three Vancouver Island authors: Ella Morelle, Jan Moore and Marlyn Farrell.
Morelle said instead of a traditional book launch where the authors read excerpts from their stories included in the book. there will be a talking circle.
“We’ll really talk more on a personal level about our journey,” she said.
She said the circle is meant to be a comfortable place where people feel “valued and supported.”
Morelle previously wrote an e-book, 16 Steps to Taking Care of You, and is currently working on a new project The Path to Love, which is about self-care.
Morelle said she joined the project because she had a dream that she was on a yellow brick road and then in the morning she woke up and found the invitation from Gravelle-Rystenbil to join the project.
“I joined the project because I have met too many women who have lived and worked under someone else’s terms, rather than their own,” said Moore, in a press release. “I don’t want women to die with regret.”
The book launch and talking circle is Saturday (April 30) from 1-3 p.m. at the Nanaimo Harbourfront Library. Books will be available for purchase.
