He has the most familiar swagger of all the “stars” from the Louisiana Hayride tribute show that has traipsed through Vernon the past three years.
And now Elvis tribute artist Adam Fitzpatrick is about to star in his own stage show at Vernon’s Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall, Saturday, Feb. 15.
Fitzpatrick knows Elvis right down to those white flight suits the King wore in his later career. It was while a spectator at Penticton’s Pacific Northwest Elvis Festival that he first had an inkling towards becoming a tribute artist himself.
Never having performed publicly before, on a dare he entered the competition in 2008, competing with 14 other contestants, and won first place in the amateur division. Fresh off that win, he was asked to appear at the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver at the annual Elvis Tribute Show attended by an audience of more than 10,000 people.
Since then he has become an international multi-award winning Elvis tribute artist who performs all three eras of the King’s musical career: the high energy moves of the ‘50s, the dynamic intensity of the ’68 Comeback Special and the powerful, charismatic vocals of the Vegas years, complete with authentic stage wear appropriate to the era.
In 2011, Fitzpatrick auditioned for Canada’s version of the Louisiana Hayride and secured the role of young Elvis. He now tours throughout Western Canada with the Louisiana Hayride as well as performing his own highly successful The Elvis Evolution Tribute Show while continuing to accept invitations to perform internationally, most notably in Memphis, Tennessee.
Last year, he returned to the southern city’s Ultimate Elvis Competition, where he won second place out of the 29 other tribute artists.
Doors to the show at the Eagles Hall, located at 5101 25th Ave., open at 5 p.m. and dinner starts at 6 p.m. Fitzpatrick takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25/person or $40/couple available at the Eagles lounge (250-542-3003).
