The annual Bankers’ Variety Show just keeps getting bigger and better, and this year’s performance set the bar even higher.

The hilarious lip-synch show, performed by costume-clad South Cariboo bankers, raises money for local charities. A total of 16 acts performed songs and skits in front of a capacity crowd of 320 people at 100 Mile Community Hall on March 23.

The show brought in a net total of slightly more than $10,000, and according to key co-ordinator Louise Mayes, the combined amount raised over the past 10 years is just shy of $100,000.

“It was a huge success. The crowd was so receptive,” Mayes says, adding tickets were sold out in advance and they easily could have sold many more.

Performers took a jab a wide range of music world icons, including Dr. Hook, Beyoncé, Elton John and ACDC.

Following the show, guests enjoyed a dinner and a dance, which went strong to the very end, adds Mayes.

“I can’t say enough in regards to the support from the community.”

The event also included a live and a silent auction, and there is still time to make bids on a very special item donated by West Fraser Mills, 100 Mile Lumber.

It’s a water-proof camera with GPS capabilities, and bids can be made until 3 p.m. on April 5 at any financial institution in 100 Mile House.

For those who missed the show, videos are on sale for $20, and they can be ordered at local financial institutions.
