Abbotsford’s Robert Bateman Secondary School makes its second foray to Fraser River Heritage Park tonight (June 17) at 7 p.m. to celebrate mid-June in style as part of the Twilight Concert Series.
Their debut last summer was a resounding success.
This award-winning band program boasts a number of accomplishments including a recent successful trip to the Whistler Music Festival in May.
Under the direction of Kris Werner the band program spends many hours traveling around the Fraser Valley at various community celebrations and events.
Werner and his students were last in Mission in February as part of the RBSS production Mary Poppins that played to sold out audiences and enchanted all who attended. There is a rigorous and energetic jazz band as well as a wonderful concert band. They will not disappoint the Twilight crowd.
On Wednesday, June 22, the concert series is delighted to welcome back a crowd favorite, Kat and Tony.
Kat Wahamaa and Tony Rees perform an eclectic blend of music, harmonic sensibilities and the ability to fashion timeless tunes that have found a perfect backdrop of the park.
Kat and Tony write beautiful music together and are real life partners as well. Their respect for each other’s talent and their utter ease on stage in front of audiences makes their performances magical.
They perform with a variety of instruments including the mandolin, guitars, and harmonica and even at times at washboard. But the strongest instrument is Kat’s strong, sweet voice that captures each lyric to perfection. The concert gets under way at 7 p.m.
Concerts run every Wednesday and Friday at 7 p.m., rain or shine. Bring a blanket, a lawn chair and sit back and enjoy the incredible array of music at Mission’s favorite outdoor summer series.
