Robert Bateman Secondary presents its production of the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, starting on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
The musical is a story about Joseph and his brothers, the classic tale of sibling rivalry and betrayal set in biblical times.
The music in this show spans generations – from jazz to oldies rock and roll.
This is the fifth musical by Timberwolf Musical Theatre. In recent years, they have performed Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins and Suessical.
This year’s show features more than 30 cast members and a guest choir from ASIA (Abbotsford School of the Integrated Arts) North Popular.
There are eight student musicians and more than a dozen students working in the backstage areas.
Teacher Kris Werner leads the music and pit band, while teacher JoAnn Fernades is in charge of the acting. Choreography is by Beckie Coupe.
The show is open to the public on Jan. 18 to 20 at 7 p.m. and Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Abbotsford Arts Centre, 2329 Crescent Way.
Tickets are $10 and are available at the Robert Bateman Secondary office during the school day or at the venue on show days.
