Footloose takes on an Irish lilt when the Beach Flicks movie series resumes Friday at Eaglecrest Golf Course in Qualicum Beach.
Jimmy’s Hall takes the audience on an old-fashioned, inspirational journey about poor folk finding the power of the rich and self-righteous. The story is set in the depression-era 1930s and recounts the true story of activist Jimmy Gralton, an Irishman who held dual citizenship but was deported to the U.S. for his Communist activities.
Upon his return to his hometown in Ireland, the youth look to Jimmy to add joy to this troubling time. The audience will enjoy music, dancing, romance, slapstick cop chases, villains and a likeable hero, played by Barry Ward.
All are invited to the Feb. 12 screening. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the film begins at
7 p.m. sharp. Tickets are $6 per person, at the door. For more info visit www.beachflicks.ca.
