After more than a year of not being able to perform publicly, due to the pandemic, the popular Comox Valley group is hosting a free concert at Filberg Park, Aug. 27.

The show will feature songs from Beatles to Beach Boys, Vera Lynn to Leonard Cohen, ABBA to Gospel, featuring such hits as Bridge Over Troubled Water, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, What a Wonderful World, In The Mood, Love Potion No.9 and more.

The performance features the Beach Street Players as well as guest singer, Katy Bowen-Roberts of Yellowpoint Christmas Show, with Al West on bass and Gloria Herauf on piano.

“We hope to see you at the Rotary Stage, Filberg Park in Comox for the singing, and don’t forget the Filberg Summer Kitchen for lunch beforehand,” said Herauf in a press release. “After ‘singing in the driveway’ throughout the pandemic, we are excited to share our music with you once again.”

Gloria Herauf (keyboards) and members of the Beach Street Players, with Al West on bass, would get together regularly on Herauf’s driveway in 2020 for appropriately physically distanced sing-alongs, to quench their thirst for performing during the COVID-19 restrictions.
