Bernie and Red back in Abbotsford

Comedy due to perform at Royal Canadian Legion on Oct. 6 and 20.

Bernie & Red have been performing around the world for the past 25 years and during all that time they have made their home here in Abbotsford, although very rarely performing here.

However on Sunday, Oct. 6 and Oct. 20 they will be performing at the Royal Canadian Legion in Abbotsford.

Showtime is at 2 p.m. both days.

Originally from Liverpool, England where they met as teenagers at the Cavern, watching the Beatles,  Bernie & Red moved to Canada in the late ’70s and since then have established themselves as one of the most popular and hard working acts in Canada.

They perform across the country and the U.S. and have travelled the world via their cruise ship bookings, going as far afield as Alaska, South America and South East Asia. Each winter they set out on an annual 40 date tour, which includes stops in Texas, Arizona, California, Oregon and Washington State, attracting crowds of well over 20,000 in total.

o, what’s the big attraction? It can be summed up in one word “entertainment.” Whether it’s a comedy routine for the ladies on “how to look thinner” or an operatic aria in fake Italian, a dynamic vocal performance of “Don’t Cry for me Argentina,” a medley of Merseybeat songs from the ’60s or an old vaudeville piece that your Grandpa used to sing, Bernie & Red can pull it off.

Married (to each other) for 48 years, they have a wealth of comedy material about the joys of marriage and family life.

Bernie & Red have released over a dozen CD’s and recently published a book entitled “Our Story”, which, as the title implies, is an autobiographical account of their childhood and early life in Liverpool, continuing with their move to Canada and details of their entertainment career.
