A group of seasoned Island musicians will come to together to perform an afternoon of jazz Saturday, July 27, in support of a local service club.
Ralph Barrat and the Sharp Seven is made up of musicians who all perform regularly in the big band and jazz combos of the island.
“This is a very exciting new group with a strong, tight horn section and a solid rhythm section playing great swing tunes and standards made popular by the great jazz vocalists and composers of the past and present,”said Barrat.
Barrat has sung with the Georgia Straight Big Band for a number of years and has performed as a vocalist and pianist in combos around the Comox Valley for years.
Barrat and The Sharp Seven will perform at the Parksville Eagles Club Saturday, July 27 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Ticket holders will hear the trumpet, trombone, saxophone, piano, drums and bass as Barrat belts out jazz favourites in the intimate space.
Tickets are $12 for the event and benefit the Parksville Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Get tickets from Cranky Dog Music in Parksville and at the door. The Parksville Eagles Club is located at 281 Island Hwy E Unit 2A.
