Big Brothers and Big Sisters presents its second annual Big Night Out Valentine prom for adults on Saturday, Feb. 11.
The event will be held at the Sacred Heart School hall from 6:30 p.m. to midnight and include appetizers, games, raffle, a door prize, cash bar and live music with the popular local band Run Home Jack.
“It will be fun,” says executive director Melissa Newberry. There will be games such as spinning wheel, top and tail, and a photo booth where people can take pictures of themselves and have them printed on site for just $1.
Safe rides home will also be provided.
Newberry says part of the fun will be dressing up in a formal gown or tuxedo just as grads do in June.
Big Brothers and Big Sisters is partnering with the Boys and Girls Club on this fundraiser for both groups.
The Boys and Girls Club is renting gowns and tuxedos for adults through its Glass Slippers Boutique program which normally loans gowns and tuxedos free of charge for students.
The fee for a gown or tuxedo for the adult prom is $40 and will help to support the Glass Slippers program. To rent a gown or tuxedo call Lora Fairbrother at 250-267-1467.
Tickets for the Big Night Out event are $30 and are now available at The Open Book or by calling Big Brothers and Big Sisters at 250-398-8391.
Last year she said the event was sold out in advance so she advises people to get their tickets early.
