Winter has reared its head once again and that means a celebration is in order.
That celebration is the Blizzard Music Festival, which this year is happening in conjuction with Rossland Winter Carnival.
The festival descends upon town for the sixth year in a row with more power than ever before, showcasing talent from across Canada and the U.S. against a backdrop of snow and ice, and reminding why we call the Kootenays home.
From humble beginnings as a grass-roots homage to winter, ‘the Blizzard’ has come into its own as one of the premier music festivals in the Interior.
Founded in 2007 by Jonathan Provencal and The Tuques, the Blizzard has since then amassed a formidable list of allies including, the Rossland Winter Carnival, Rossvegas Board shop and Nelson Brewing Company.
With the Rossland Winter Carnival in full swing simultaneously, this year’s Blizzard promises to be the biggest and snowiest party to blow through British Columbia in decades.
Highlights for 2012 include an outdoor stage and beer garden with DJs and a live performance by festival organizers The Tuques.
Our best musical lineup yet features Flowmotion at the Eye of the Storm Party on Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Rossland Miner’s Hall. Tickets won’t last long, so get yours today at participating outlets.
