The 16th annual Blue Grass Jamboree will be taking place this weekend at the Pass Creek Fair Grounds.
The family-friendly event starts Friday, July 7 at 2 p.m. Shows will be at 2 and 6 p.m. On Saturday, July 7, shows will be at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. On Sunday there will be an all-gospel show at 10 a.m.
The Saturday morning show will feature a band scramble. Participants will put their names in a hat, then names are drawn at random to form bands that most likely haven’t played together before. They are given about 20 minutes to prepare a few songs to perform.
If you are interested in performing during the weekend, you just have to show up and register. During the shows, each group will do three numbers before passing the mike on to the next group.
“It’s good music — a lot of talent shows up,” said organizer Greg Sahlstrom.
Admission is by donation and there will be a concession on site.
A bonus event will be held at the Station Museum on Thursday, July 6 at 3 p.m. where a group will show up to perform for about an hour.
