The lakecity’s BlueNote band is teaming up with the Studio Theatre’s Improv Group to host a Christmas dinner and dance for small business groups at the Point Restaurant, Friday, Dec. 2.
BlueNote’s lead singer Carmen Mutschele says the event is also open to others who would like to attend.
“We are very excited for this event,” Mutschele says. “It’s a Christmas dinner, dance and live theatre party for small businesses, but also open to anyone else who is looking for something special to do during this Christmas season.”
Comprised of Rudy Wassenaar on keyboard, Michael Fait on drums, Richard Butters on alto-saxophone, and Carmen Mutschele on vocals BlueNote has been playing together since the fall of 2013.
Whether the evening calls for Mack the Knife or travels further South on Route 66, BlueNote plays classics from Etta James to Edith Piaf, the occasional Norah Jones tune, and some original songs as well.
They play jazz and swing with a twist, with the occasional Blues tune, and are not afraid to dabble in country or French chansons.
BlueNote plays together regularly for community fundraisers and for special events such as Valentine’s and Christmas parties.
At last count she said there were a few tickets left.
Tickets are $60 and available at Adventure Games, The Open Book and directly from band members.
