Boeing Boeing back for second flight at Langham

Langham Theatre is looking to the past to celebrate its 85th anniversary

Langham Theatre is looking to the past to celebrate its 85th anniversary, with a reproduction of Boeing Boeing, which first landed in Victoria in 1978.

Also returning is director Toshik Bukowiecki, who said that despite the play since becoming a classic, his approach remains the same.

“It’s a farce, so you play to certain elements,” Bukowiecki said. “It has to be fast-paced, physical, and have an element of sex appeal – its all part of the genre.”

This time around, Bukowiecki will be using the more recent American translation, as opposed to the original British one.

Jeff Olyarnyk will be playing Bernard, a bachelor living in 1960s Paris and engaged to three beautiful flight attendants each unaware of the others. The play opens when Bernard’s friend Robert, played by Perry Burton, pays him a visit while all three of Bernard’s fiancées happen to be in town.

Boeing Boeing will show at Langham Court Theatre at 805 Langham Court. It runs from July 23 to 26, 30 and 31 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $21 and available by phone at 250-384-2142.
