Peninsula-based actor, champion boxer and stuntman Darcy Hinds will be one of the celebrity phone-panellists at this Sunday’s (Feb. 9) Variety Show of Hearts from the Hard Rock Casino in Coquitlam.
He will appear between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. on the show, which will be broadcast live by Global BC from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with donations benefiting B.C. children with special needs.
Hinds, known from appearances on such TV series as Supergirl, Arrow, The 100, Supernatural, iZombie, The Flash, and Van Helsing, also remains active as a middleweight boxer (he represented Canada in more than 140 bouts across North America, winning multiple titles) and plans to turn professional in the sport following participation in the Golden Gloves tournaments scheduled for Cloverdale and Richmond in March.
Last year he had a recurring role as Randy Van Ronson on The CW and Netflix’ popular Riverdale series, during which he battled Archie Andrews (K.J. Apa) in the ring.
Strapping on the gloves again doesn’t mean he has any plans to desert acting, he said.
“When you’re boxing, you’re always looking for somewthing that you can do after your career is over,” he said. “With acting, you can do everything – it’s the perfect job.”
Next TV appearance for Hinds will be as a guest on the show Get Cooking With The Stars, to be aired in March.
