The Bridge Lake Photo Group is getting ready to share some of its best works of 2010 at its Third Annual Photo Exhibition on Jan. 30 at Bridge Lake Elementary School.
Admission is free to the public and it will feature printed photographs, slideshows and videos of wildlife, landscapes, flowers and the Barkerville area, that have been produced by the members.
Brenda Tillyer, one of the event organizers and an avid videographer, says the photo group meets twice a month and chooses themes to photograph and film over a period of several weeks. They view and critique the four favourites submitted by each person, and for the show, they have compiled that collection into a slideshow.
It will be one of 17 displays and 12 slideshows that will be featured at the show.
Tillyer will be contributing some of her videos, which she thinks of as photography in motion, and very much an art form.
“I use focus and composition when I’m filming, just like you would when photographing. I like the motion and the movement.
“It’s not more difficult. It’s just different, and editing is just as much fun as filming.”
Tillyer notes that each club meeting draws between 15 and 20 shutterbugs. “We have some very experienced photographers among us and they share their knowledge with the rest.”
She adds that steady improvement of skill and technique over the past year
is evident among
all of the group members and they are looking forward to sharing it with visitors to the exhibition. Last year, the show drew 165 guests.
Doors at the show open at 1 p.m., with viewing of the displays until 2 p.m. A video and slideshow presentation will follow that from 2 to 3 p.m., and then from 3 to 4 p.m., people will be able to view the displays again and enjoy some refreshments. Bridge Lake Elementary School is located just east of the Bridge Lake General Store.
