The ski and snowboard movie season is upon us, with two films showing in Revelstoke this weekend, including one entirely produced and filmed by locals.

On Friday, Conquering the Useless, a new ski movie starring Cody Townsend, is playing at the Revelstoke Performing Arts Centre.

The movie focuses on a two week trip on snowmobiles and skis by Townsend, his wife Elyse Saugstad, Revelstoke’s Chris Ruben, and Dave Treadway into the remote Coast Range mountains near Stewart, B.C.

Tickets are $10 and all proceeds will go to the Capow Fund, which is being set up to allow kids access to avalanche education.

Together they ride some big lines in and around Revelstoke.

Entrance to the premiere is by donation and all money raised will go to Revelstoke’s new skateboard park. As well, all proceeds from sales of Pabst Blue Ribbon will go to the Daniel J. Levesque Foundation.
