Building castles out of sand

Rain or shine, talented sand castle builder Marc Dansereau will be sharing his art from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 30 at Sandy Beach in Blind Bay

• What to bring: A large shovel, two large buckets, a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, drinking water and snacks.

• Who can attend: The lessons are for adults and children eight years of age and older. (Younger children are welcome to attend but parents must be present to assist).

• What do We learn? How to prepare and stack sand for sand sculpting; how to create various shapes, animals, sandcastles, including towers, walls, windows with tips and tricks for getting better results; where to find/make inexpensive sand-carving tools and how to make sand sculptures last longer.

Registrations will also be accepted at the beach located on Bay Road between Marine Drive and Centennial Drive.

The cost to participate is $5 per person or $10 for a family.

All proceeds will go to the Shuswap Hospice Society.
