C.R. Avery returns to Bozzini’s in Chilliwack

Described as Bob Dylan in body of Iggy Pop; colliding with Little Walter, Beastie Boys, Allen Ginsberg

Whether he’s playing a heart-wrenching ballad on the keys, breaking out the harmonica blues, strumming on his banjo, or reciting his unmatchable spoken word, C.R. Avery always puts on a memorable performance.

This fine East Vancouver musician will return with his current band, The C.R. Avery Collective to Bozzini’s Upstairs Lounge for an intimate physically distanced performance on Tuesday, Nov. 10.

“C.R. Avery is a phenomenon, and every Canadian should know that he’s ours. I could say more, but what I most hope is that you will get to experience him for yourself,” said veteran Canadian musician Corin Raymond.

From musical beginnings in his late teens, Avery has recorded more than 15 albums and has written and directed six hip-hop operas, which were performed from New York’s Bowery to L.A.’s South Central. His latest project is a featured film titled Victory on East Hastings.

He’s toured throughout Canada, hitting up nearly every major folk festival, the United States and Europe. He’s garnered the attention of music industry peers including Tom Waits, Charlie Musselwhite and folk legend Utah Phillips.

His live performances have been described as Bob Dylan in the body of Iggy Pop; colliding with Little Walter, the Beastie Boys and Allen Ginsberg.

Every show is all or nothing, and his fearless approach to all genres of music both on stage and in the studio proves the longevity of this talented, astonishing creator.

The C.R. Avery Collective is at Bozzini’s Upstairs Lounge on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. (doors at 6:30 p.m.).

Tickets $ 22.50 at Bozzini’s or call 604-792-0744 to reserve.
