Dragon Fli Empire have been dubbed leaders of the Calgary hip hop scene by CBC.

The 2009 WCMA nominees for Best Hip Hop Album (alongside Sweatshop Union, Moka Only and Grand Analog) have been making noise for their city since 2002.

Their indie hit Mount Pleasant became a favourite on CBC and independent radio across Canada. They have released music with labels in Japan, Europe and North America and brought the fun back to hip hop with their old school-leaning production and rhyming.

DFE brings a high-energy performance (DJ and MC) and have toured across Canada and opened for names like De La Soul, Mos Def, the Roots and others along with showcases at festivals like Rock the Bells, Calgary Folk Fest and Warped Tour.

Dragon Fli Empire performs in Cumberland on Feb. 22 at the Waverley Hotel.
