Surrey Little Theatre’s 50-hour Film Challenge returns Oct. 7-9

Surrey Little Theatre invites the community to write, shoot and edit a five minute film for a chance to win $500.

SLT is once again inviting filmmakers to register their team in the annual 50-hour Film Challenge.

The fourth annual challenge weekend starts Friday Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. as teams meet at Surrey Little Theatre to receive their randomly selected “inspiration package.”

Over the course of the following 50 hours, the team will disburse to their individual “headquarters” and head out to various locations throughout the Lower Mainland to write, shoot and edit a five-minute film that will include all the chosen surprise elements.

On Sunday Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. all teams will bring in their finished product to Surrey Little Theatre for their chance at prizes including a Best Film Top Prize of $500.

Prizes will be awarded the following weekend on Saturday, Oct. 15 at a Gala Filmmakers Reception with screenings of all films open to the general public. Screening tickets are limited and will be advance sales.

Registration deadline is Oct. 2 — $100 team;  early bird Sept. 30 — $75 team. Challenge weekend will run from Friday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. to Sunday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m.
