Nanaimo residents can nominate an everyday Canadian they feel is an unsung hero for recognition.

Canada’s Walk of Fame organization is asking people to submit the name of an individual they feel is making a difference in the arts, culture or sports community.

It’s seeking nominations for the Peter Soumalias Unsung Hero Honour. Soumalias is the founding director of Canada’s Walk of Fame, which formed in 1998. The organization created the honour to pay tribute to his dedication.

The deadline is July 31.

Winners will receive a $5,000 honorarium, two tickets to attend the 2016 Canada’s Walk of Fame celebration and more.

Nominees are individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
