The Valley Concert Society welcomes the Canadian Guitar Quartet to the stage of Matsqui Centennial Auditorium (32315 South Fraser Way) on Saturday, Jan. 28.

This group of young musicians from Ontario and Quebec has been playing to enthusiastic audiences on their current tour of B.C.

The quartet will perform a variety of works from classical favourites such as the William Tell Overture (the Lone Ranger theme) and Danse Macabre by Saint-Saëns to new works such as Octopus by Brüderl and a Latin-inspired work composed by their teacher Patrick Roux.

Much of the arranging of these great works has been done by the four young men themselves.

The program will open with Bruno Roussel’s arrangement of Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Cellos. Three sparkling Hungarian Dances by Brahms are brought to life by the creative imagination of Louis Trépanier.

Renaud Coté-Giguère composed Fille de Cuivre, a new work inspired by the copper sculpture of a girl.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Louis Trépanier will give a pre-concert talk in the foyer at 6:50 p.m.

Tickets are $28 general and $15 for students. They are available online at valleyconcertsociety.com. For more information, call 604-289-3377.
