Cariboo Festival begins Monday

The Cariboo Festival starting Monday promises a month of musical merriment in the lakecity for people of all ages.

The Cariboo Festival starting Monday promises a month of musical merriment in the lakecity for people of all ages.

“The numbers for the disciplines are mostly up this year,” says festival vice-president Michelle Erlandson.

She says there are  34 instrumental entries (April 11); six bands entries (April 12); 34; 74 speech arts entries (April 13-15); 72 vocal/choral entries (April 18-20); and 104 piano entries (April 21-23).

Special dates include the annual choir concert taking place April 18, starting at 7 p.m. in the Williams Lake Evangelical Free Church at 1100 11th Ave.

“This event will feature three adult choirs and three children’s choirs,” Erlandson says.

A special evening of piano ensembles and a senior piano competition will be held on April 21 at Calvary Tabernacle Church on Carson Drive starting at 7 p.m.

The Honours Concert takes place on Saturday, April 30 at Cariboo Bethel Church starting  at 7 p.m.

Entry to all events is by donation to support the festival.
