Carlson School of Dance promises a diverse program in their three big upcoming shows.

Dancing on the Island, the three-day extravaganza that is the Carlson School of Dance year-ending show, takes place from June 9-11 this year at the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre.

Shows are scheduled for Thursday, June 9 and Friday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday, June 11 at 2 p.m.

But don’t think for a minute that this is a three-peat of the same performance.

While Thursday’s show might include such numbers as ‘Blue Birds’, ‘Vengeance’, ‘Waltz of the Flowers’ and ‘Class in Session’, Friday’s audience will enjoy selections called ‘Tea Party’, ‘Peacherine Rags’, and ‘Disco Funk’.

On Saturday, the menu changes yet again, offering a wide variety of numbers with such names as ‘Frozen Reign’, ‘Malaguena’, ‘Rock-a-Bye Bear’ and ‘Who Are the Robots’.

If you get the idea that a lot of students and teachers have worked hard for these huge productions you are right. There’s plenty to enjoy whichever day you go.

Tickets are $17 for adults, $15 for seniors/students and $10.50 for children. Get them at cowichanpac.ca or by calling 250-748-7529 or by visiting the Cowichan Ticket Centre in person.
