Carnival ends with Appetizers and Art

nday’s Appetizers and Art, in the Sierra Room at the Village Green Hotel, will not only whet appetites for art, but for food as well.

For those who may be a little intimidated by attending an art exhibition, the last event on the Vernon Winter Carnival roster may quell some of that queasiness.

As its name suggests, Sunday’s Appetizers and Art, taking place in the Sierra Room at the Village Green Hotel, will not only whet appetites for art, but for food as well, and it takes place in a casual atmosphere.

“We will have a huge table of many different appetizers to suit everyone’s taste,” said event organizer Marti Giroux. “Guests pick up a plate of goodies, get a glass of wine from the cash bar, and go around the room meeting and talking to the various artist from the Vernon area.”

A small group of artists, as well as participants from the Vernon Public Art Gallery, will be demonstrating their work, and in some cases will allow members of the public to try out a technique.

“The art is not just pictures on the wall, so there will be something of interest for all,” said Giroux.

Besides the art and food, young musicians from the Vernon Community Music School will entertain guests in the lobby.

“Guests can sit, relax and look at some of the art out there, while listening to the musicians of the future,” said Giroux. “It is a fun, relaxing evening and a perfect way to charge your powers for the upcoming Monday.”

Sunday’s event takes place from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Limited tickets are $10 each and available at the Carnival office. Call 250-545-2236 for availability, or visit www.vernonwintercarnival.com.
